‘UN panel is losing credibility’
07/02/2010 - A leading British government scientist has warned the United Nations’ climate panel to tackle its blunders or lose all credibility. Robert Watson, chief scientist at Defra, the environment ministry, who chaired the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) from 1997 to 2002, was speaking after more potential inaccuracies emerged in the IPCC’s 2007 benchmark report on global warming.Click here for full story

Tories: Climate scepticism grows
07/02/2010 - Most Conservative MPs, including at least six members of the shadow cabinet, are sceptical about their party's continued focus on climate change policies, it has been claimed. The recent furore around "Climategate" has hardened the views of Tory MPs, many of whom were already unconvinced by the scientific consensus, and has led to increasing calls for the issue to be pushed down the priority list.Click here for full story

'Wind bags' tested in Nottingham
07/02/2010 - Wind bags which would store excess energy from wind turbines as compressed air under the sea are being tested by a Nottingham University professor. Seamus Garvey's idea to hold air in bags the size of 10 double-decker buses, compressed by the sea, has been backed by E.On. The power company has invested £236,000 towards building two prototypes, which are now being tested in 15-tonne tanks.Click here for full story

These nine vast new offshore wind farm zones with a total capacity of 32GW will, if fully developed, account for 5,000- 6,000 turbines; and up to 45,000 UK-based jobs could be created in new coastal manufacturing hubs by 2020. All-Energy - the UK's largest renewable energy show - is the perfect event in the perfect place for you to join in the transformation of the UK's offshore wind capacity.
