Supply Chains for hydropower development in the United Kingdom

Chair: Professor David Williams, Chief Executive, British Hydropower Association

The supply of equipment, construction and services for renewables project development in the UK is a cause for concern. The problems for wind are well known and are being addressed by the Government and industry. Hydropower has been in the fortunate position of having an industry based in the UK as a result of the growth of hydro and pumped storage from the end of the Second World War to the late 1960s. However, the immediate potential of onshore hydro and the future development of offshore hydro will stretch the indigenous capability. Means must be found of seizing this opportunity. This workshop will address the issues now facing the entire hydro sector and hopefully lead to some solutions.
