Project Manager – Glasgow – Electrical Engineering/Electronics/Power
Our client is an innovative high-technology firm in the power sector who are looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager for their Glasgow office on a permanent basis. You will have a proven background in Electrical Engineering or Electronics, and candidates will ideally be qualified to degree level or have gained equivalent work experience.
It is essential that candidates can demonstrate proven project management experience and must be able to also show the ability to manage project schedules and budgets. Candidates must be commercially aware, be able to work closely with customers and in house teams and have excellent communication skills.
It is expected that successful candidates will have already gained a minimum of 8-10 years experience in a similar Project Management role. Candidates will be business driven, enthusiastic individuals who are customer focussed and have excellent interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities will include:
• Review customer orders and contracts, working with customers and internal commercial, technical and manufacturing departments to resolve any specification issues or risks.
• Create and manage project plans with key milestones, resources requirement, risks and opportunities identified. Ensure all dependencies are identified.
• Manage the timely production of deliverables and management of risks
• Liaise with external and internal departments and customers
• Ensure a high level of effective communication is maintained throughout the project lifecycle and a smooth running of project to target dates.
• Measure and report project performance against budget and KPIs.
• Create and maintain BOMs, technical specs and shipping paperwork etc
• Organise and supervise customer Factory Acceptance Tests.
• Liaise with Site Services department for project Commissioning, Site Acceptance Tests and completion of works certificates.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to the project delivery process.
The successful candidate will:
• Manage a portfolio of projects from receipt of order to completion ensuring each project meets cost, quality and delivery targets.
• Manage and co-ordinate all elements of complex projects to ensure all works meet requirements
• Create project plans and project budgets with key milestones and resource requirements
• Increase profits in regards to project margins
• Communicates project status, report KPIs and manage of risks/issues ensuring these are resolved or escalated as appropriate.
Experience
Degree in Electrical Engineering/Electronics/Technology/High Technology or equivalent work experience.
A minimum of 8-10+ years of project management experience
Proven ability to successfully manage projects, schedules and budgets
Computer skills: Must be proficient using spreadsheets to aid analysis and project planning tools.
Skills
High drive, enthusiasm and initiative.
Ability to work in small company environment (independent/resourceful).
Person who enjoys heavy interface with other staff in manufacturing, engineering, CSC, sales, production.
Must enjoy fast paced environment and work well under pressure
Self-starter, pro-active and innovative
Attention to detail
Customer focused
Good project manager, planner and multi-tasker
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Detailed and Analytical orientation.
Time management skills, including planning and budgeting
Willing to travel to visit customers and other company facilities
Willing to work extra hours to complete important tasks
Global travel will be an essential part of this role so flexibility is required
Salary
£35,000- £40,000 dependant on experience
