Description:
The client is Europe's largest renewable energy company. The group develops and generates hydropower, wind power, gas power, solar power and district heating, and is a major player on the European power exchanges. The group also develops marine energy, osmotic power and other innovative energy solutions. In 2009 the group posted gross operating revenues of EUR 2.9 billion. The group employs 3,400 staff in more than 20 countries.

Your role:

Follow and explain the price development on the North West European power and gas markets
Prepare price forecasts and describe uncertainties, and communicate price expectations both to internal and external partners and counterparties
Suggest solid trading strategies and discuss positions with the trading, origination and energy management department
Apply, maintain and develop analytical tools and models
Follow major regulatory changes in the German power market
Coordinate the maintenance and further extension of the analysis database
Closely co-operate with the groups offices in Oslo and Amsterdam to exchange market views

Your profile:

Academic background, preferably master in economics, engineering or mathematics
Experience within European energy markets in a trading or generation environment, in particular from the power and gas market; other related markets (coal or oil) would be an advantage
Solid programming skills (VBA) or advanced skills in statistics or econometrics
Strong command of the English and German language, knowledge of another European language would be an advantage
Genuine interest in analysing and understanding the fundamentals of European electricity markets and transforming this knowledge into profitable business ideas
Excellent team-player with very good communication skills
