Description:
The client is active in the field of offshore wind energy. The company is currently developing a new concept for offshore wind power plants together with a reputable network of key partners in the industry. The concept includes differentiating designs for the rotor, nacelle, support structure and electrical system. This holistic approach, covering the full life cycle of all components, will result in significant cost savings compared to current technologies. The team consists of experienced individuals from the wind industry comprising engineering, project development, supply chain management and commercial management.

Position description
You will be responsible for the design, calculations and specification of structural wind turbine components, to be manufactured by third parties. The structural engineer is part of the mechanical team and reports to the Team Leader Mechanical Engineering.

Tasks and responsibilities
Design and strength assessment of structural components like hub, frame and shaft
Write component specifications for third party supply
Write component certification documents
Write first article qualification specification
Maintain the technical contacts with the components suppliers
Involvement in supplier qualification, first article inspection, etc

Education
Advanced degree (MSc) in Mechanical Engineering or in a closely related discipline

Working experience
At least 5 years proven experience in design of welded, cast and forged components
Working with certification bodies (e.g. Germanischer Lloyd)
Technical point of contact for the components suppliers
Vendor qualification
Experience in the wind industry would be beneficial

Personal skills
The candidate must have good organizational and communication skills and must be able to work within an international, multi-disciplinary team
Self-starter and pro-active problem solver

Software skills
In-depth experience with ANSYS, LMS Virtual Lab/Falancs, or similar software
Experience with CAD systems is beneficial

Language skills
The candidate must have a good command of business English, written and spoken Command of German language is beneficial
