The group develops and generates hydropower, wind power, gas power, solar power and district heating, and is a major player on the European power exchanges. The group also develops marine energy, osmotic power and other innovative energy solutions. In 2009 it posted gross operating revenues of EUR 2.9 billion. The group employs 3,400 staff in more than 20 countries.

The Markets Continental group, with more than 150 employees, has offices in Amsterdam, Belgrade, Bucharest, Sofia and Düsseldorf. The Markets business is active in trading of power, gas, and related products like renewable obligation certificates, emissions certificates, and structured products.

Your role:

You will be part of a professional team that optimises the short-term market value of our German Asset Portfolio, which right now consists of more then 2000MW of flexible production capacity. In your work you develop and execute trading strategies, requiring close communication with the operators at the power plants and the traders at Statkraft Markets. You will also help with the further development of the business by establishing models and procedures that help in extracting the market value of our asset portfolio. With the asset portfolio available 24 hours per day for 7 days a week you will be part of a flexible shift team implying occasional night and weekend duties, for which you are compensated. In your job, you will get in close contact with all the aspects of the utility business. Being a highly qualified employee, you will have the chance to actively contribute to the further development and growth of the groups Markets, working closely with various departments in Germany, The Netherlands, Bulgaria and Norway.

Your profile:

You have good analytical skills and a commercial drive, preferably with a university degree in business and / or engineering
Preferably you have experience in managing positions in short-term gas and/or electricity markets
You have some basic programming experience, preferably with VBA, VB.net or SQL
You are flexible, accurate and capable of further developing the business
You are a team player with good communicative skills and a strong command of the German and English languages
