Effectively Managing Community Benefit - 21 May 2009
13.45-15.15
Organised by Scottish Community Foundation
With communities receiving payments of up to £3M over 25 years, sometimes more, what is the best way to maximise benefits to local people, while minimising the set-up and running costs for a developer? This session will examine the most common approaches in dealing with community benefit payments and administration, with invited speakers from an energy company, local authority and intermediary body giving their perspective. The session will be led by the Scottish Community Foundation, and conclude with a panel question and answer element involving all contributors.
Giles Ruck, who will lead the session, is chief executive of the Scottish Community Foundation (SCF), an independent charity that distributes £4 million a year to communities throughout Scotland. In addition to working with an increasing number of energy and land developers,
SCF manages and distributes funding for private individuals, companies and statutory bodies such as the Scottish Government, local government and the Lottery. SCF has offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, with a network of professional assessors throughout Scotland.
